Star Alliance Thanksgiving Business Class Fare Sale November 2011

leave a comment »

Yesterday evening I found great Business class fares to Europe while searching around various dates that book in Z class and earn 150 percent EQMs in many Star carriers frequent flyer programs.. These fares are valid on most Star Alliance carriers from North America to Europe such as United, Continental, Air Canada, Lufthansa, US Air, and even more. The fares average $2000-$2400 from the US West Coast, and they tend to decrease the farther east one chooses as a departure point. There are fares as low as $624 one way from the East Coast. Travel must occur between November 20 and November 25 for the departure, and return travel must be completed by November 30, 2011 on many Star carriers. Tickets must be purchased and issued by October 27, 2011.

I am posting a direct link to the fare sale from Lufthansa, but travelers should feel free to book via their preferred airline’s website, as they should be available across the Star carriers. This is a good offer indeed as it is often the same price one would pay for a miles and $550 copay to upgrade a coach ticket to Europe. Flyers will earn 150 percent EQMs in many Star carrier’s frequent flyer programs. This offer also presents a great opportunity for a year end mileage run and boost of EQMs to ensure elite status for 2012. Happy travels.

Star Mega Do 3

At View From the Wing, Gary Leff unveils all the great details of the Star Mega Do 3. The complete details are found at Milepoint. The sponsors of the program are United, Lufthansa, and Hyatt. The European portion of the program begins on September 5, 2011, and it has the option to start in New York City, fly the A380 to FRA, and then visit the Lufthansa facilities at Munich airport. Then return to the US with Lufthansa to Chicago(ORD). The LH flights earn actual EQMs flown and cost $900 in coach(S class) and $2400 in Business(Z class). The North American section takes place from September 7 though September 10, 2011. For those wishing to only travel within the US, the program starts in Chicago, goes to Montreal, and ends in Denver. Air travel is by a chartered CO 737 which earns a minimum of double EQMs for coach travel costing $750 and up to quadruple EQMs for first class travel costing $1675. A great benefit to the program is that three one night stays at the official Hyatt hotels of the program will earn the person Diamond status through 2013.

Acquiring a Lifetime United Red Carpet Club Membership via lifetime Continetal President’s Club Membership

leave a comment »

This post describes how a person can obtain a lifetime Red Carpet Club membership for United Airlines which United Airlines no longer directly offers.

You have two options for an airline club membership either the yearly United Red Carpet Club or Continental President’s Club, which offers a lifetime membership. AFAIK, United will have to recognize this as a lifetime RCC membership once the carriers are fully combined starting January 2012, but it would also be good to verify with a call to the Continental President’s Club. It appears one has until the end of the year to buy the lifetime Continental President’s Club membership.

Here is the Red Carpet Club info and rates: they only offer a yearly rate which is discounted for 1Ps at a $400 annual rate and $375 for 1Ks.,,52712,00.html?navSource=rccNav&linkTitle=rccMembDetails

With regards to Continental, the rates are the same, but they offer a lifetime President’s Club membership. The rate is discounted for Continental elites, but United and Continental both allow you to match your existing status to the other airline so you can receive their benefits.

You can match your status here, and you should make certain to designate Mileage Plus as your primary account.

Then you can get the info for the President’s club with the link for the rates below with recognition of your status on Continental.  For a Gold elite. the yearly rate is $400, but the lifetime rate is $4900, and a 1K gets a $4600 rate.

Let me know what you think, and happy travels.
